Meetings are usually held from 2pm on the 3rd Sunday in the month, in the Bert Lewis Meeting Room of Box Hill Library, which is just east of the Town Hall, at 1040 Whitehorse Road Box Hill. Details of the 2026 meetings and speakers will be found under the News section of this website.

MAIN CATALOGUE: We hold mainly paper based records, with some small artefacts. Our main catalogue lists items such as photographs, manuscripts, books, ephemera and loose newspaper cuttings. While the most up-to-date version is not yet available online, we have uploaded the catalogue to the Victoria Collections database and are gradually making it fully available after checking that we still hold the items listed. In the meantime, what is publicly available can be searched by clicking on the link below.

The Box Hill Historical Society was formed in 1963. Since then volunteers have worked to collect, preserve and share the unique history of the suburbs of Box Hill, Box Hill North and South, Mont Albert, Mont Albert North, Burwood and that part of Surrey Hills which was formerly located in the City of Box Hill.
The Box Hill Historical Society is affiliated with the Royal Historical Society of Victoria and is a member of the Association of Eastern Historical Societies.
Membership of the society offers many benefits, as well as helping to preserve and maintain our local history.

Our meetings are usually held at Strabane Chapel, Strabane Avenue Box Hill North, commencing at 8pm.
