Heritage Week in Whitehorse will take place from 12 to 19 September. The Society is holding an exhibition Health and Hygiene: then and now in the lower Town Hall, which will highlight historical displays of life in the (not so) ‘good old days’, when epidemics such as the Spanish Flu, diphtheria, polio and TB decimated populations. Participating organisations include Bolton Clarke (Royal District Nursing Nursing Service), Box Hill Hospital (Eastern Health), Red Cross, St John Ambulance and Kew Historical Society, who have kindly loaned items. A number of talks have been scheduled, on both historical and contemporary topics, and will be detailed here shortly.
Date: Friday 13, Saturday 14 September, 10am to 4pm. Cost: Gold coin donation asked to help cover costs
